I'm trying to stick to my new years resolutions for reading all of the Bible in one year and I picked up a second book to go with it "The Purpose Driven Life." So those have been keeping me pretty busy. I have been slacking off when it come to taking notes in church, they are not as thourough as usual. But here are a couple of tid bits I Do have.
Saturday:
A gal I was sitting next to said; "You know... While I was taking communion I had an epiphany. Back in the day when they would make a covenant they would take an animal like a lamb and say 'Be it to me as I do to this lamb if I break the covnant with you.' Then the lamb was slain, killed. Jesus was the Lamb that was slain for us when God made a new covenant with us."
So then this means we probably should obey God who sent his son to be a sacrifice for our sins. God wasn't playing around when he made a new covnant with us. He really wants to show us how much the new covenant means to Him. May God help us all be faithful on our part!
Sunday:
We are to grow deep roots in the word; like the seeds that sprouted in good soil. Not like the seeds that sprouted on the rocks then quickly shrivled away when the sun beat down on them, or like the ones that sprouted along the weeds and thorns, or like the ones that were snatched by the birds before they even reached the ground on the wayside.
So if you see that your prayer isn't answered right away or that it isn't answered at all don't give up on the Word. If your life gets busy, make sure you proritize enough to set aside time to spend quality time with the Word. Don't let the cares of the world get to you because the cares of the world are very puny in the hands of God. And sometimes we miss the signs, words, truth, point, etc. alltogether. Our answered prayers might be sitting in front of us and we may be unbelieving. Remember when God answered the people praying for Peter who was on death row in prison and God sent His angel to set him free and when Peter was knocking on the door the girl who finally answered couldn't believe her eyes and shut the door again. (1st corinth?) It could be right under our nose and we don't even see it. Watch then and pray and spend time in the Truth that you will know what is hidden from the wise and revealed to the babes.

Thought of the day
Once you stop fighting Holiness and start desiring Holiness instead, your life gets turned right side up. Leaving your old self and putting on holiness can be a painful, but wonderful process; like getting slivers out of your skin. Then you have to keep watch and be careful not to get any more slivers.
